Alan along with his dedicated and talented team are in the unique position of running 2 separate Michelin starred restaurants outside London, L’ortolan in Shinfield, Berkshire and La Bécasse in Ludlow, Shropshire.

Together with my Head Chefs, Will & Robin, we are passionate about using seasonal produce and classical marriages of flavours. We are always looking to take the food forward to the next level by embracing new culinary techniques and using modern presentation. The ethical and nutritional elements of each dish the team creates are taken into account at every stage. Whenever possible we work with local produce and suppliers and use very little butter, cream or carbohydrates to give the food a lighter, cleaner taste and finish.

Alongside my Operations Director Ania, the Restaurant Managers Greg & Nicolas aim to offer a professional and relaxed service in a comfortable environment.  We hope to enhance the dining experience through inspirational food and wine pairings and offering our guests numerous menus from our menu du jour to the chefs ‘surprise’.

The restaurant dining rooms are sympathetic to the period features of the listed buildings and are enhanced through contemporary and innovative interior design.

The aim of the team is very simple, “to exceed your expectations and leave you wanting to return”
